Kitchen Remodeling Contractors South Jersey Trusts

Wendy and I knew at a high level what we wanted to do with our kitchen. The Ayars team really helped us hone in on the details. From the minute that they showed up on site, they put up a dust wall that literally contained all of the debris and all of the dust.

Communication was fantastic. The project manager would let you know what to expect — what they have done this week, what they were going to do next week.

More Details

When my wife and I bought our house in 2020, we had a list of items we wanted to update and quickly began knocking things off of our list. Knowing that we wanted a kitchen remodel, we got used to our space and started brainstorming some ideas for a new floor plan, quickly realizing that we weren’t designers! Ayars’ has always had a great reputation in home renovations, and we knew that when we were ready, we’d be contacting them. Four years later, we decided to move forward and our experience was exactly what we expected… perfect.

Brent R.South Jersey Kitchen Remodeling Customer

Our family hired Ayars to perform a kitchen remodel in our home. They were referred to us by multiple family friends as best in the business. We were not disappointed! We love our new kitchen and the experience with the ownership and team was professional and friendly. From design, to demo, to buildout, everything was explained and expertly executed. When problems did arise, they were also explained and collaborated on to find solutions. One area that sets certain outfits apart is how they handle challenges and obstacles, and this group hit a home run. Would highly recommend you give them a call for your next project.

What’s Included in an Ayars South Jersey Kitchen Remodel?

Every Ayars kitchen remodel is a full design–build engagement. That means a single company handles every phase — so homeowners aren’t coordinating between a designer, a general contractor, a cabinet shop, a countertop fabricator, a plumber, and an electrician. A typical scope includes:

clean modern white eat-in kitchen featuring stained wooden flooring and island cabinets, white wall cabinets with crown molding, white subway tile backsplash, double wall oven

 Layout redesign and open-concept conversions

Opening walls between the kitchen and adjoining dining or living areas creates a continuous space for cooking, dining, and entertaining. Ayars handles load-bearing beam engineering, matches flooring across transitions, and resolves tone-and-texture mismatches where adjoining rooms meet.

Custom cabinetry and smart storage

Full-height pantry cabinets are Ayars’ go-to storage recommendation — they use their entire cubic volume for storage, unlike walk-in pantry closets, which sacrifice volume for standing room. Other standard features include pull-out spice racks, soft-close drawers, integrated trash pullouts, and dedicated appliance garages.

Kitchen islands and seating

A kitchen island is one of the most-requested features in South Jersey kitchen remodels. Islands function as prep stations, casual dining, and the social center of open-concept layouts. Ayars sizes islands around the kitchen triangle — the working distance between sink, range, and refrigerator — which the National Kitchen and Bath Association recommends be no shorter than 10 feet and no greater than 25 feet per leg.

High-end appliance integration

Modern high-end kitchens require 7 to 10 dedicated electrical circuits, up from the 5 that were standard a generation ago. Built-in refrigerators, beverage coolers, steam ovens, and microwave drawers free up counter space and maintain a consistent aesthetic. Ayars works directly with appliance suppliers to match products to budget, functionality needs, and panel capacity.

Backsplashes

Large-format slab backsplashes — often using the same stone as the countertop — are a leading trend in South Jersey kitchen remodeling. They produce a sleek, European-modern feel but require careful planning and experienced installation to execute properly. Tile is still very common, and with today’s wide array of choices, it does not have to feel like a step down from large-format slabs.

 Lighting design

A properly lit South Jersey kitchen layers three lighting types: recessed overhead cans for general illumination, under-cabinet LED for task lighting on counters, and pendant fixtures over islands or dining zones for style and focus. Natural light from garden windows, casement windows, or skylights brightens dark kitchens without adding fixtures.

Countertops: natural stone vs. engineered quartz

Natural stone (granite, marble, soapstone) offers one-of-a-kind character and high resale value but requires periodic sealing. Engineered quartz is non-porous, stain-resistant, and maintenance-free, but has less natural variation. There are so many options in the world of countertops, and our goal is to help you navigate this space and make recommendations of only high-quality, trusted products. Not all stone slabs are created equal, and not all stone fabricators have the same quality mindset as Ayars. We have those trusted working relationships with decades of experience.

Understanding the Kitchen Remodeling Process

mickleton kitchen cabinetry in white with black fixtures

The kitchen remodeling process can be intimidating for many people – being without a kitchen for an extended period is a major inconvenience at best, a nightmare at worst.

At Ayars, we do our best to alleviate anxieties and minimize disruptions through thoughtful preparation. We ensure all materials are on-site and ready to go when we are, allowing us to complete most kitchen remodels within 5 weeks.

The typical timeline looks a little like this:

  • First two weeks: Demolition, rough framing, drywalling, and flooring
  • Third week: Cabinet install
  • Fourth week: Countertop and sinks go in, running water restored (you can start using your kitchen again at this point)
  • Fifth week: Appliances in place, trimwork, and final details

Your project manager will keep you well-informed and updated along the way. No unwelcome surprises here – only exceeded expectations!

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a South Jersey kitchen remodel cost in 2026?

A full high-end kitchen remodel in South Jersey typically costs between $65,000 and $85,000. Minor updates, such as replacing existing cabinets and replacing countertops, without re-arranging the layout can come in below that range. Extensive gut renovations involving structural changes, moved plumbing, or luxury appliance packages can exceed it. $100,000-$150,000 is a common investment amount for larger-scale renovations
The following factors can drive the final number:

  • Scope. A cosmetic refresh costs far less than a layout reconfiguration.
  • Cabinetry. Custom cabinets cost more than semi-custom or stock.
  • Countertops. Natural stone tops are a premium with manmade quartz & granite offering reduced price points.
  • Appliances. High-end built-in brands require dedicated circuits and carry higher price tags for the truly integrated look and feel. Many appliance companies offer premium lines that give a more commercial-grade look and feel with some lesser features to try and stay on budget.
  • Kitchen size. Larger footprints equal more cabinets, countertop surface area, and backsplashes, which are the 3 largest price drivers of ANY kitchen renovation.
  • Structural changes. Removing a wall triggers permit, engineering, and framing costs.
  • Plumbing & electrical. Relocating a sink, dishwasher, and gas range, or adding dedicated circuits, adds cost. Modern kitchens often require 7–10 circuits, whereas older kitchens typically had 5.
  • Permits & inspections. Required for most remodels when moving plumbing, adding electrical, or modifying bearing structure.
  • Surprises. Water damage or outdated wiring uncovered during demo.

Ayars provides a fully detailed estimate during the consultation and design phase before any work begins.

How long does a kitchen remodel take in South Jersey?

Most South Jersey kitchen remodels take 6 to 8 weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. Projects that involve relocating plumbing, gutting the entire kitchen, or installing elaborate custom cabinetry and trim can extend to 8–10 weeks or longer. Ayars orders all materials before the start date so our craftsmen can work continuously once the job begins, and a full written schedule is finalized during planning.

Other Common Kitchen Remodeling Questions

Kitchen FAQs

a

What is the “kitchen triangle?”

The kitchen triangle is the working path between the sink, stove, and refrigerator — the three most-used stations during meal prep. The National Kitchen and Bath Association recommends each leg be no shorter than 10 feet and no greater than 25 feet, and that the path remain clear of obstructions. Every kitchen is different, and although this is a good rule, lifestyle and the needs of the client will often suggest the best layout.

a

How long should I expect a kitchen remodel to take?

Most kitchen remodels that do not involve moving the plumbing locations can be completed in 4 to 5 weeks. More involved kitchen renovations that include gutting the kitchen completely, possibly moving sink and appliance locations, and/or implementing more elaborate cabinetry and finish trim details can push the timeframe out several more weeks. All of this is discussed in the planning phases and a complete schedule will be finalized prior to the project start. Setting clear and honest expectations is a priority of the Ayars team and a hallmark of our reputation for exceptional service.

a

How long does a kitchen remodel typically take?

Depending on the scope of the job, the average kitchen remodel takes 8 to 10 weeks.

But here at Ayars, we often achieve the task in half the time by having all materials on hand (appliances, cabinetry, and products) from the start — which allows us to work continuously without delay.

It’s important to note, however, that the timeline might be extended by complex trim details, intricate cabinet layouts, complex or commercial-grade appliance installations, significant layout or structural changes, or custom range hoods.

You’ll be given a realistic estimate of that timeline prior to the project kickoff.

a

How do I brighten a dark kitchen without adding square footage?

Combine four strategies: layered lighting, light-reflective finishes, maximized natural light, and decluttered counters. Recessed overhead cans, under-cabinet LED, and pendant accents cover the lighting layers. Light wall colors, white or light cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances reflect light. Garden windows, casement windows, and skylights pull in daylight. Full-height pantry cabinets and open shelving keep counters clear.

a

What is the best material for kitchen countertops?

There is no single best material for kitchen countertops — the right choice depends on budget, maintenance tolerance, and aesthetic preference. Natural stone (granite, marble, quartzite) offers unique character and heat resistance but requires sealing. Engineered quartz is low-maintenance and consistent but less distinctive. Most Ayars clients who choose natural stone do so for the one-of-a-kind look; those who choose quartz prioritize durability and easy cleanup.

Natural Stone

Pros:

  • Aesthetics: Natural stone, such as granite, marble, and soapstone, offers unique, one-of-a-kind patterns and colors that can add a luxurious and timeless look to your kitchen.
  • Durability: Many natural stones, like granite, are very durable and heat-resistant.
  • Value: Natural stone can add value to your home due to its high-end appeal.

Cons:

  • Maintenance: Natural stone is porous and often requires regular sealing to prevent stains and damage, especially marble.
  • Cost: It can be more expensive than some engineered options.
  • Variability: The natural variation in stone can be a pro or con, depending on your preference for uniformity.

Engineered Materials

Pros:

  • Durability: Engineered materials like quartz are non-porous, making them generally resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria without the need for sealing.
  • Consistency: They offer consistent patterns and colors, which can be a plus if you prefer a uniform look.
  • Low Maintenance: Generally easier to maintain than natural stone, requiring only regular cleaning.

Cons:

  • Aesthetics: While engineered materials can mimic the look of natural stone, some people feel they lack the unique character of natural stone.
  • Heat Resistance: Some engineered materials, such as solid surface, may not be as heat-resistant as natural stone and will need to be insulated against hot pots and pans.

While both materials include very impressive and quality offerings, we find many of our customers opt for natural stone for its unique, timeless beauty — but higher-end engineered countertops can pretty closely approximate the look.

a

What is the most popular backsplash for kitchens?

One of the emerging trends in kitchen backsplashes has been large-format tiles or slab backsplashes, with a preference towards natural stone and a sleeker, more modern, European feel. Integrating the backsplash with the same countertop material — another popular request — requires a lot of planning and attention to detail.

a

Do I still need a microwave in my modern kitchen?

Not necessarily. Microwaves mounted over the range are increasingly rare in modern kitchen design. Many South Jersey homeowners either integrate a microwave drawer into base cabinetry, substitute a steam oven, or skip the microwave entirely in favor of a statement range hood.

a

Are kitchen islands going out of style?

No — kitchen islands remain one of the most-requested features in South Jersey kitchen remodels. They anchor open-concept layouts, provide casual seating, and serve as the primary gathering spot when family and guests inevitably end up in the kitchen.

a

What is the difference between a pantry cabinet and a pantry closet?

A pantry closet is a small walk-in room with 2–3 shelves and floor storage. A pantry cabinet is a full-height (floor-to-ceiling) cabinet with every inch dedicated to storage. Ayars typically recommends pantry cabinets for their superior storage density and cleaner appearance — the entire cubic volume is usable, and shelves can combine fixed and pull-out configurations.

a

How do I choose the right appliance package for my new kitchen?

There are a few things to consider when choosing the right appliance package for your kitchen, and we’ll review these things thoroughly prior to project kickoff:

  1. Functionality: There is a kitchen appliance for absolutely anything and everything you might want to accomplish in the kitchen nowadays. We’ll start with the essentials (refrigerator, oven/range, and dishwasher) before diving into more niche products. Modern high-end appliances offer some pretty awesome features and we work closely with our appliance supplier to find a match for your needs.
  2. Budget: We firmly believe that kitchen appliances should be equal to their surroundings, and therefore strongly advise our clients to leave room in their budgets for higher-end appliances that fit in with the beautiful new kitchen remodel you just invested in!
  3. Power: Electrical requirements are growing substantially, with most high-end appliances requiring dedicated circuits. What used to be an average of 5 dedicated circuits required for a kitchen has now grown to 7-10+ depending on the package. Everything draws power and we have to be mindful of the space in the panel and what is required by code, as well as your needs.
a

Where do I prep meals while my kitchen is being remodeled?

A temporary prep station in the dining room, living room, or finished basement works for most households. It needs enough space for a portable induction cooktop or toaster oven, a microwave, and your existing fridge. Proximity to running water is the biggest challenge — laundry room sinks, basement utility sinks, and bathtubs are common workarounds. Ayars prioritizes restoring running water within the first few weeks of every remodel.

We know that surviving a kitchen remodel can be tough, so restoring running water within 4 weeks is our first priority.

a

Does it matter where I buy my appliances?

Yes, we have strategic partnerships in this space which reduce stress, eliminate the need for homeowners to coordinate anything, and allow Ayars to verify every exacting detail. Appliances of today are very sophisticated and require attention to detail. Our vendors have showrooms and pre-defined packages for clients at every budget level.

a

How do I get my refrigerator to have the integrated look into the cabinetry?

The answer is the hinge. High-end refrigerators offer specialty hinges that allow the carcass and doors to sit flush with the surrounding cabinets. This is only available through appliances that are more premium in nature. Without this feature, your refrigerator must pull forward to allow for the thickness of the door (typically 4”-5”) to clear the cabinets. Sometimes, a bit of the side of the refrigerator must also show to allow for added clearance.

a

Are pot fillers still common?

Yes, this is still a frequent request and requires planning. Water lines, height, and center lines all have to be considered at the time of planning and roughs.
